Welcome from Mr James Franklin-Smith, Executive Principal and Mr Charlie Johnson, Acting Principal
As Executive Principal and Acting Principal, we are pleased to welcome you to Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge, a new school which is on a rapid journey towards being outstanding.
This is an exciting time for the academy; there are a number of changes taking place to ensure that we achieve our vision to become outstanding. With the support of the flagship school within Trinity Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) – Trinity Academy Halifax – we are tailoring established systems and processes to ensure they work for the academy and our students, with a particular focus on discipline and the quality of teaching and learning. In a very short period of time we have created an environment where teachers can focus on delivering the best lessons and students can focus on learning. We are determined that our students benefit from an exceptional education that places no ceiling on what they can achieve.
Mr James Franklin-Smith is Executive Principal across both Trinity Academy Halifax and Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge, and Mr Charlie Johnson is Acting Principal for Sowerby Bridge. Mr Johnson takes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the academy, whilst Mr Franklin-Smith is responsible for the strategic leadership of the academy. As part of this, he takes responsibility for bringing across successful strategies and systems from Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge’s sister site, Trinity Academy Halifax.
Trinity Academy Halifax is a large outstanding academy that received results this year that put it in the top 3% of schools nationally. We have been working with the school since March last year, and there are a number of staff who are now based at the sister site, which has of course accelerated progress. We will formally join the trust in the new year; in the meantime, the academy is receiving the same level of support as any other school in the MAT.
Our mantra of Culture + Consistency = Excellence is already delivering results; from the way students respect one another, to how we celebrate successes, to students understanding how to make progress – there has been huge impact in a short space of time. Whether you are a future student, parent, member of staff or an interested member of the local community, we look forward to hearing how Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge has, will be, or could be, part of your future.
